I'm talking about putting on a good show. Does your band get into the music? Do you move or jump around on stage. What do you do to get into the music.
Does it really matter if you move around on stage?
I think; If you want people to come to your shows, you've got to do something to keep them coming back for more. If not, it's the same thing as listening to the CD at home. Then, what's the difference between live and CD?
Three Below, Skungk, Stemm, Endface... All kick ass live. They move around like freaks.

Absolutely, Stage presence is a must when playing live. Especially in heavy shows. You have to do something to get the crowd into the music just as much as you are, make people realize why they came to a live show: to see a live band..... ~*!MIKE!*~ www.noware.cjb.net

stage presence is everything when your a local band. you only can go so far before you start needing to play the same area again, and you need something to get the people back. people never forget a good live show, so then they won't forget your band.plus they will watch you instead of just listen. playing live is all about gaining fans and getting in touch with the people, so give them something they will remember. -skittles-DS

I actually think this is my bands biggest problem, we are definatley getting better at it but it does take time to be able to play good and move. I think Downstitch can atest to that seeing they have seen all of our shows......they have actually blown us off stage before because they move so much.....but who knows... strange runs into this problem sometimes. sometimes we all flip out and go nuts on stage then others we just kinda... stand/sit there. everyone seems to like our singers stage presense though (it's because he's a flaming homo with dildos hanging out of his ass. just kidding, jamie.)

i think that if you want the people to get into the performance, you have to get into it yourself. if i like a band on the radio and then see them live and they just sit there for 40 minutes playing the guitar, i'm bored. if they are putting every bit of energy that they have into every last riff of every song, then i can say that i like that band. worst national act around - staind, god their music was ok at first, but i saw them a few years back and jeez, i couldn't believe how boring they were.
being in a band , i try to put my all into it, i'm disappointed in myself if i'm not soaked in sweat and ready to die after every show, i lost 6 pounds one night , no lie !!! ( we did play 2 shows) i look forward to losing 7 pounds in one set some night. it did take a while to be comfortable enough to play while running and jumping and stuff, but after a while , thats just how it is. i used to be embarrassed to act like that onstage, cause if you know me , i don't say much , and i'm pretty low key( this posting isn't a good example).
and as far as playing tight while jumping around, almost no band can lay perfect while throwing themselves around. god , we are not at all tight onstage, bring a tape-recorder or something and record it , listen the next day and you'll see. but people don't notice when they are there, their senses are divided and half is watching , so they aren't paying as much attention to what you sound like , so go nuts !!!

i couldn't agree more. you said it perfect. i know i don't play the songs as tight as i do in practice, & when i play live its not #1 on my priority list. as long as you dont fuck up majorly, nobody will notice. they are their to see a show.

Being a drummer, it's almost impossible to be a mover on stage. I would give anything to be up front playing bass so I could show the rest of the guys in my band how it's done. I'd be fucking wild man if I had that chance. Till then I just do my thing behind the drums. I get into it, but there's not too much I can do as far as moving around. I'm thinking of finding a way though.

I know for a fact that we wouldn't be nearly as good as some people think if it wasn't for our live show. I think playin' live is way more important than any aspect because your playin' for the fans, so show em' what you got and they'll love it. Thats the only reason we've made any kind of name for ourselves, gotta give it your heart everytime you play live. Stage precense is everything, so just keep it in mind. Peace, Humpy-ds
P.S. If you get a chance definately come on down to WeeksEnd March 22, The bill will be OneSickLie, Eyeless, DogDaySunrise, TUNG, and us Downstitch. Hope to see everyone there. Definately come if you wanna see some good stage precense!
